About Me

I faked my way through “normal” my whole life. I borrowed other people’s lives and made them my own to fit in. While traveling through the fifty-two places I lived before I reached eighteen, I collected people’s stories and embellished them, then slipped them on like a costume or shield–camouflage to fit into a world in which I didn’t belong.

The paragraph above was how my thesis started for my MFA in Creative Writing. I learned a lot during my studies, and I had a life-changing epiphany during the very last class: I write about weird stuff–ghosts, vampires, werewolves, telekinetics, shamanic powers, lost souls, and just plain odd people—I don’t have to be normal.

No one does. Take my word for it—it’s way too much work, it’ll just make you neurotic, and no one is REALLY normal. They’re all faking it.
